  e1) with preposition - thing / animal
Il travaillait jusqu'au soir pour gagner l'argent, sans lequel sa famille ne pouvait pas survivre.
    He worked until the evening to earn the money, without which his family could not survive.
  Tous les efforts par lesquels il a cherché à améliorer la situation n' ont abouti à rien.
    All efforts, through which he has tried to improve the situation have led to nothing.

  e2) with preposition - person
C´était un homme sur lequel on pouvait compter.
  C´était un homme sur qui on pouvait compter.
    This was a man on whom one could count.
  Il y avait là-bas un homme sur lequel je désirais m'informer, mais personne ne voulait m'en parler.

  e3) with preposition ce, quelque chose, la seule chose, tout, rien
Il n' y avait rien sur quoi tirer, aucune cible.
    There was nothing on what one could shoot, no aim.
  C' était tout sur quoi il a fondé son jugement.
    This was all on what he founded his judgement.
  Il n' y a rien avec quoi on puisse les comparer.
    There was nothing to be compared with.
  C' était la seule chose avec laquelle on pouvait l' attirer.
    It was the only thing that attract his attention.
